Siobhán Flynn has played the Irish and pedal harps since she was a young girl. She was generous with her time for this portrait's photo shoot. Her playing, which she modestly informed me was "just arpeggios", was mesmerising.
I decided to paint Siobhán not at the harp but surrounded by motifs from its design. The composition was inspired by the work of Alphonse Mucha, one of my favourite artists, and the pose reminiscent of the iconic Redheads character.
