Wide Awake (portrait of Cherine)

Cherine Fahd is my beautiful, fierce friend and inspiration. She is a photographer, academic and activist.  She's always been a fiery big sister - passionate, politically conscious, and of course with amazing artistic vision.  I took the source photo for this portrait at the end of a session for another project, and I was struck by Cherine's powerful yet vulnerable expression.
